Tom began playing tennis when he was 11 years old in Greenbelt, Maryland and has worked for the City of Daytona Beach since 1993. As Director of the City Island Tennis Center, he developed many local junior and adult tennis players. Tom transferred to the Florida Tennis Center (FTC) in 2002 as the Head Tennis Professional. In March of 2009 Tom became the FTC's Manager.
Tom has served the local community in many areas. He initiated the Tennis Patrons of Greater Daytona Beach and worked with school officials to develop programs in local elementary schools. After serving as Director of the USTA District 16 and USPTA District 6, Tom received Florida's Service Award. Tom is one of a handful of professionals in the nation certified as both a “Little Tennis” and a “Competitive Player” specialist. John has been in the tennis business for more than 25 years and is the former owner of the Trails Racquet Club. He is certified to teach tennis by the USPTA and PTR, and has experience with all levels of juniors and adults. John is available for private and group lessons as well as team clinics, and works with tournament-level juniors of all ages.
Kristen Okarski is a Daytona Beach local and played her first competitive tennis at Mainland High School. While studying Business and Marketing at Florida State University she played in the intramural leagues. Kristen has continued to play on and off through the years and currently enjoys playing on both USTA and GVTL teams. She was a member of Florida Tennis Center for 5 years before taking on the position in the pro shop. Her interests also include snow skiing, travel and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband Scott have a daughter, Abby, who also enjoys playing.
